GOOD FATS AND BAD FATS? ANO BA TALAGA ‘TO?!
“Ano ba yan, tumaba na naman ako.”
“Pwede ba donate ko nalang ‘tong mga fats ko?”
Kung meron ka lang genie in life, pwede sanang maglaho nalang na parang bula ‘yung mga taba natin, ‘no? So the question everyone asks is: How can we really get rid of fats?
Answer is: We cannot. Just like carbs, fats are an essential part of our body and all healthy diets consist of fat intake.
Wait, what?! Naguguluhan ka ba? Nakaka-confuse, diba? Kami rin dati, until we did some research.
Ano nga ba talaga ang good fats?
There are fats which we call “heart-healthy” fats, the good ones, which we should include sparingly in our daily diet. Research shows that healthy fat, especially Omega-3 fatty acids, can actually decrease levels of blood cholesterol and heart attack. They’re actually very beneficial to keeping our heart healthy! Some of the most accessible healthy fats are:
- Oils (vegetable oil, peanut oil, canola oil)
- Peanut butter
So given that, ano naman ang bad fats?
To make things short, precise (and a bit sad), bad fats are the ones that give the most flavor in our meals. Most of these fats are solid under room temperature (shoutout to the sebo in your nilagang baka, whaddup?) and is found to heighten levels of bad cholesterol. It might also be the cause of all the pananakit ng batok that you experience. Some of the worst kinds of fat for you are:
- Butter, margarine, lard
- Chicken skin
- High-fat dairy foods
- Deep-fried food (Guys, masama talaga ang doughnuts and pizza)
We know that this was pretty hard to read, aka masakit sa damdamin, but part of loving ourselves is taking caution in our food consumption. Don’t worry, pwede ka naman kumain once a year ng crispy pata. 😉
Good luck! Balitaan mo kami ha.
